More places you can send visitors
Redirecting old URLs from a previous website went live in the last release. This release widens where those redirects can point, and adds a quick way to check they work.
New destinations
As well as a product, collection, page, blog or blog post, a redirect can now go to your homepage, one of your policy pages — privacy policy, terms of service, return and refund policy, shipping policy, contact information — a store page like the cart, search, or contact form, or a customer page like account, wishlist, orders, sign in, or create account. You pick these from a list, so there's nothing to type. They always open in the visitor's own language, and keep working even if those page addresses change later.
Test any redirect
Every saved redirect now has a link that opens the old URL in a new tab, so you can confirm it sends visitors to the right place. It's on the edit screen and on each row in the redirects list.
Also improved
Redirects to a built-in page show clearly in the list, for example Store page / Terms of service.
